Great restaurant that serves decent Mexican food. Service is lacking as the wait staff seems tired or disinterested. We had wait for more coffee and they "count," the creamer mini barrels that flavor the bland coffee. This is not a bad restaurant, it's just gotten to routine as the years go by. The need to revitalize the food, staff and atmosphere for 2026 and beyond.
This place scammed my card. They charged me a transaction fee for every single item on my receipt. Also, I pulled out a little very hard, very sharp piece of bone out of my mouth that came from a chicken enchilada. When we got there we ordered two sweet teas and they tasted like someone squeezed an entire lemon into each cup. I dont like lemon with my tea so I asked if I could switch to coke. My mom didnt want to waste my cup of tea so we asked for a to go cup for it. The waitress acted like she barely understood anything we were saying and then they charged us an entire dollar for the to go cup and we had to pay for all 3 drinks. Plus the transaction fees for every item just because i payed with my card. The tortillas were burnt and chewy instead of crispy. Like they burn them ahead of time them let them sit out for a day. It was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. The chicken fried chicken is good though(thats what my mother had). She said the restaurant used to be good. If it ever was, it is not anymore.
We are here visiting from Austin, Tx and this was our first time eating at Vicky’s. We will definitely come back. The Monterey Tacos plate (3) with arroz & frijoles charros, was excellent! We will try their breakfast plates next! I shared picture of my plate and experience on FB. Highly recommend this restaurant! 👍
First time eating here. Decided to try local rather than go to a fast food chain. I'm currently in the Chick-fil-A drive thru...I was not satisfied with the experience or food. I placed an ordered for a tortilla soup as soon as I got there, ordered my drink. Once I got my drink I was asked if I was ready to order my main dish. I was between two plates but decided the papi plate. Wait wasn"t too long but the main dish came and the first thing I noticed was the enchiladas missing. I pointed that out and the waitress said I was bringing up the other plate I was in between. I asked for a menu and she apologized and let me know she was new. That wasn't a big deal but then I asked for the tortilla soup and she said she forgot it. Still payed $21 and tipped but sadly had an unpleasant experience.
Great breakfast place for the family. I've never had bad service or food and they are quick to ask if you need anything. The Diablo sauce is spicy and great on the taco loco which is my favorite.
A Mexican restaurant without avocados?? Kinda like McDonald's without hamburgers. One star off for that. Arrived around 1700. The restaurant was open and welcoming. The menu is definitely Deep South Texas oriented but with a gringo twist if you are looking for that option. Our server was Mas Deep South Texas Friendly and knew the menu well! Our food came out hot, visually enticing, and was very tasty! We were looking for other options here in the greater Harlingen area. If they can get 🥑s.. It would definitely be a go back restaurant.. Plotted.. Scouts Out.
Omg best Beef Enchiladas ever 😋!! Went for the first time, and I'm definitely going back soon. The food was served fresh and hot. The service was great. I loved the atmosphere!
There chicken fried chicken is humongous! Even with it's bigger in Texas size, it was well flavored and not dry. You could easily feed 2 people form it, 3 or 4 if you're not too hungry. My only gripe is that the men's restroom only has 1 stall and it appears to not be lockable. If you want some good food and a good environment, here is a place you just might like!
